To address the need for highly qualified healthcare professionals, the health sciences school offers a diverse set of undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate healthcare programs. Dean’s message

Michael Ciolfi, dean of the undergraduate College of Health Sciences

On behalf of the students, faculty, and administration, I am pleased to welcome you to University of Bridgeport’s College of Health Sciences. The College of Health Sciences is composed of an integrated body of healthcare programs committed to educating leaders in healthcare.

The College has highly acclaimed programs, schools, and institutes: the Acupuncture Institute, the School of Chiropractic, the Fones School of Dental Hygiene, the School of Nursing, the Physician Assistant Institute, the Nutrition Institute, and the School of Health Professions. The Acupuncture Institute offers three master’s degrees and a doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine (D-TCM). The Fones School offers two undergraduate degrees in Dental Hygiene (AS and BS) and a master’s in Dental Hygiene. The School of Nursing has three undergraduate tracks: BSN, Accelerated BSN (ABSN), RN to BSN (online), and an online master’s of Nursing (MSN). There are four separate programs within the School of Health Professions: Medical Laboratory Science, undergraduate Health Sciences, master’s in Public Health (MPH), and Doctor of Health Sciences (DHSc.). The MS in Nutrition, master’s in Public Health (MPH), and Doctor of Health Sciences are online programs. Undergraduate Health Sciences has four majors, two of which, nutrition, and community health, have 4 + 1 options where you can graduate with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in five years. Additionally, the Chiropractic program has a dual degree option where you can concurrently earn a DC with an MS in Nutrition or Acupuncture.

Learning is inter-professional, evidence-based, and patient-centered, providing the health sciences student with lifelong learning opportunities. The College of Health Sciences focuses on overall wellness through community health education, exercise science and general fitness, nutrition, and health science research. The University has an on-campus clinic that provides Acupuncture, Chiropractic, and Dental Hygiene services to the community. The College also offers a postgraduate Chiropractic residency program and continuing education credits for practicing health care providers.
